The Mood of the Country
Mar 10th, 2009 by Larry
I haven’t posted on my blog since December of last year for I haven’t been moved to write anything. It seems like I’ve been slipping on a lot of things over the last 3 months. We all have our ups and downs but the downs have been more prevalent. Maybe it has something to do with the climate of the country. The economy, the loss of our retirement funds, and the general feeling of hopelessness has taken its toll on everyone and I am not protected from it. I know that we all wonder when all of this will end but I think we are closer to the beginning than the end. I hope that I’m wrong.
It is always difficult when transitioning from one President to another but for me it’s been especially difficult. Going from a semi conservative President to an ultra liberal one has been difficult. However, it could be that the changes have been coming at us too fast. It seems that every day there is more bad news or another bail out, and every time the President speaks Wall Street sinks a little lower and we all lose. We all need a time out and think that everyone in government needs to stand back and take a deep breath. Failure is a way of life and trying to save everyone may lead to saving no one.

I don’t even watch the news any more, it just makes me sick to watch the chattering class of politicians trying to “not waste a crisis” to slop their pork.
The small government libertarian in me hasn’t enjoyed the president for the last 8 years, the 8 before that, and really the 4 before that. Looks like the next 4 are guaranteed to suck worse. And if the budget people are right, suck worse than all the previous presidents combined.
And personally, things have gone from bad to worse, and most of it is out of my control. 2009 is not turning out better than 2008.
I started my blog to bitch about stupidity in the dog world, but now that my dogs are, more than ever, the major positive in my life, it’s hard to focus on the negatives. And really, I’ve never enjoyed reading the “look at all the fun we’re having” dog blogs… and I don’t think it’d be fun writing one that way.
I admire your blog because you took up the cause of fighting for clarity and smartness in flyball sport and were willing to point out the stupidity. You’re no less effective when you point out the stupidity of our politicians.
