Comment Policy
Nov 25th, 2007 by Larry
After reading many opinions on having a commenting policy or not, the prevailing opinion seems to be that a policy should be in place, even if it’s just to say that comments will be monitored. But I’ve decided not to implement comment moderations. I will see how things go for now and reevaluate this policy some time in the future.
If you do make a comment you agree that you are fully aware of what you are posting and agree that you are not posting any copyrighted material which you are not legally allowed to post, and you take full responsibility for the contents of your comment. I can delete or edit any part of your comment as deemed inappropriate, at my sole discretion. Your IP Address is recorded every time you post a comment for security purposes.
Guidelines
English Only
This site publishes content in English language only and therefore only English comments should be posted.
Don’t Spam. Check Your Words.
Multiple spam filters are active on this site so if your comment doesn’t appear, it was probably blocked as spam. Please choose your words carefully as your keyword may be suspect spam and your comment may never be posted. No swear words, adult words or defamatory remarks will be accepted. Please email me if you have a problem posting a comment so that I can see if it was marked as spam.
Stay relevant and on topic.
Only comments relevant to the post should be posted so please keep the discussion on topic. Comments that only serve to link to another product, service or website will be deleted. These kinds of comments are just spam unless the product specifically adds to the topic being covered.
Don’t post long URLs. Use html tags.
If you’re leaving a comment on my blogs and want to point to a link on your own or someone else’s site that is relevant to the topic then please feel free to do so. This adds to the conversation and improves the blog. However, please use properly formated HTML links so that very long URLs don’t break my template. Improperly formated links with very long URLs can be deleted.
Protect your privacy.
Do not post your personal details like email address, phone number, mailing postal address in your comments. Only add your email address in the field on the form and your address will not be displayed with your comment. Spam bots scrape through such posted personal details to spam you later. Protect your privacy.
My advice to those commenting on blogs (not just mine) is that in a sense you’re visiting someone else’s home when you leave a comment. Comments have the ability to build up or tear down your reputation. They are a permanent record of who you are and what you stand for - so take care - be gracious - make sure they add value (not only to the blog you’re visiting but also to your own online profile).
